Materials

• (3) “Cousin: Jewelry Basics” 10mm round, glass beads in Aqua/Dark Blue
- (18 piece pack)
• (4) “Cousin: Jewelry Basics” 6mm round beads in Metallic Teal
- (100 piece pack)
• (16) “Toho” 6/0 E-beads in Silver-lined Light Blue (9 gram tube)
• (8) 7mm jump rings
• (2) 4mm jump rings
• (Appx 37’’ total) 20 gauge silver
• Enough silver chain to complete either a bracelet or necklace
-Anywhere from 1’’-12’’ for an average sized wrist/average sized necklace
• Clasp and split ring
• Round nose pliers
• Flat nose pliers (and/or nylon jaw pliers)
• Wire cutter
• Wire wacker (optional)
• Wire rounder (optional)

Directions

1. Cut a 5’’ piece of wire. Round the rough end with a wire rounder if desired (and any ends throughout the project). Using the round nose
pliers, make a small loop at one end. Switch to the flat nose pliers (or nylon jaw), and hold the loop in place. Twist the wire around to start
forming a spiral. Make about 3 ½ rounds. Move to the other side of the wire and make a loop on that end also, but starting in the opposite
direction. Use the flat nose pliers to spiral around this loop as well. Make the two ends as even as possible. You will end up with an “S”
shape.
2. Cut a 2’’ piece of wire. Make a wrapped loop on one end to form the wire into an eyepin. You may also use pre-made eyepins, but you won’t
be able to get a wrapped end.
3. Curve your spiraled wire around the 10mm blue bead, and line up the inner loops to the holes in the bead. Put your eyepin through one end
of the spiral, the bead, and through the other end of the spiral. If your wire ends up too tight or too loose, remove the eyepin and adjust the
spirals, again keeping both ends as even as possible.
4. Make a wrapped loop (or simple loop if you’re using pre-made eyepins) on the other end of the eyepin. Trim any excess wire with a wire
cutter and use the flat nose pliers to push down the end if it is sticking out.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 two more times.
6. Cut a 4’’ piece of wire. Make a spiral on one end like in step 1. Slide on a 6mm teal bead, then spiral the other side. You will end up with a
spiraled “S” again, but with a bead in the middle. Make four. At this point you may use the wire wacker on both ends of the spirals to harden
the wire, and avoid any unintentional, future bending.
7. Alternate the flat spirals and the wrapped beads by linking them with the 7mm jump rings. Slide on an e-bead, a spiral, an e-bead, and the
wrapped bead, and close the jump ring. The e-beads will end up floating on either side. The finished linked strand will measure about 6.5’’.
8. Cut two, equal sized pieces of chain, long enough to complete either a bracelet or necklace. Attach the chain to each side of the linked
strand, using the 7mm jump rings, again with e-beads on each side.
9. Attach a clasp to one end, and the split ring to the other end, using the 4mm jump rings.

Note:

Be careful not to handle the spirals too much, or the color may start to scratch off. The nylon jaw pliers will help with this, as they are a non-scratching surface for wire work. However, they are slipperier to work with. Find what works best for you.
